THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO
THE
GALAXY
|
| Hitchhiker's Guide to the
Galaxy is
a great movie if you're looking for
something absurd to the point where it's actually clever. The
movie, though in a sci-fi setting, is actually a clever comedy that
should appeal to all ages, and types of people. There are parts
where it's a bit slow, as far as movies go, and other parts that are
just plain silly, but it's something easily overlooked in this movie
keeping in mind it's overall theme. Since this movie is created
from the popular book that many of us remember with fond memories, many
people will have high expectations about the movie living up to the
book. I would recommend that if you go see this movie, you may
enjoy it more if you watch it for its own twist on the book, and try
not to find inconsistencies - it's often not possible to squeeze a full
book into 90 minutes, and still keep the movie entertaining.
Though there were some very nice effects in the movie, there were also
some that almost looked low budget. Some of the control panels of
the star ship looked a bit weak. The CG effects were very nice on
the other hand, especially toward the end of the movie. The
story was clever, and original, mostly inherited from the book it's
based on. The movie is entertaining because it mixes sci-fi,
comedy, with some good visuals, and an overall good atmosphere.
Though the movie is pretty funny in it own right, I think some (not
all) of the humor will will not resonate with some people, as it's
unconventional. Finally the movie qualifies as a decent date
movie, since it's not a pure sci-fi, but also has to offer some offbeat
humor. If you're looking for entertainment, or unconventional
sci-fi/comedy, you should certainly see this movie. |
