![]() ![]() GAME SAVER ONLINE MANUAL
InstallationThe installation procedure is simple and quick for this software. Run "setup" and follow the onscreen instructions. Once Game Saver is installed, you can go to your screen saver setup screen in the Windows control panel, and select "GameSaver" as your screen saver. (This process is the same as it is to select any other screen saver.) Screen Saver mode Game saver is a screen saver of a sort, but behaves slightly differently from most screen savers out there. First off, hitting a key will not exit the screensaver. The only key that will exit Game Saver is the "Q" key. Moving the mouse, or clicking any of the mouse buttons will exit Game Saver if the screensaver mode is ON. If this mode if OFF, the only way to exit Game Saver is to hit the "Q" key. You can turn the screen saver mode ON and OFF by hitting the "S" key. You'll notice in the bottom right part of the screen there's an indicator letting you know whether the screensaver is ON or OFF. Game Saver keys N - Hit this key to start a game. You can start a new game in the middle of a game as well. Q - Quits Game Saver. Will return to windows, or whatever application was running before Game Saver activated. Arrow Keys (left, right, up, down) - These keys control the direction you move in game mode. The keys will also work when you're not playing the game, allowing you to alter the actions of the screen saver. S - This key toggles on/off the screen saver mode. When the screen saver mode is off, the only way to exit this program is to hit the "Q" key. If this mode is on, moving the mouse, or clicking the mouse keys will also cause Game Saver to exit. G - Lets you turn on/off the grid on the screen. The grid has no real function, it's simply for your personal preference. Playing the Game You start a new game by hitting the "N" key. Once the game starts, you'll see a yellow/red dot in the center of the screen. Pressing an arrow key will move the screen around this dot. You gain score by getting as far away from your starting point as possible. Note that if you go back toward your starting point you'll loose score. Your score is just a measure of distance from where you started, nothing more, nothing less. You start each game with 10 energy points. When you loose them all, the game ends. If you crash your dot into ANYTHING you will loose energy points. The game gets increasingly difficult by getting increasingly dense as you get further from your starting point. There is a way to die instantly in this game. If you go near a region where all the geometric shapes are a very light bluish color (kind of like this text) you will instantly die, even if you do not collide with one of these shapes. Don't worry, there is only one such "mass" growing in the game field. It'll catch up to you only if you are too slow. It paces the game so you don't get too comfortable in a specific region. ;) FAQ "I want to play the game at my leisure, not just when my screensaver kicks in. Can I do that?" Yes! CLICK HERE to download a single file that you can put anywhere, including your desktop. Just click or run this file, and it'll run Game Saver directly without the intervention of the Windows screensaver mechanism. |
